The Art Education Society is a club for all Art Education majors at USF. The purpose of the club is to: Provide an effective transition from art education preparation to professional practice.

  • Maintain a high standard of quality art education on campus and in the community.
  • Gain greater insight and perspective about the teaching of art and contemporary concepts in art education.
  • Sponsor service projects such as speaker, symposia, exhibitions, etc.
  • Promote an exchange of ideas in substantive art education.
  • Promote art education and all areas of the visual arts as a career choice.

Together, the club participates in the Annual Indiana Art Education State Meeting and FAME Festival activities, and works with the Reggio Emilia Program at Whitney Young School in Fort Wayne. The club is currently applying for membership as a student chapter of the National Art Education Association.

Eco Club (Environmental Club)

The purpose of the Eco Club is to provide an open forum for student environmental concerns; educate and promote awareness of environmental issues in our communities including USF, Fort Wayne and Allen County; serve the community in the best interest of the environment; uphold the Franciscan value of respecting creation and using resources wisely; and maintain Earth Day events. Membership is open to any USF student currently enrolled in classes.
Educators in Action (EIA)

EIA is an organization geared toward elementary, secondary and special education majors. The organization is involved in service and social activities on campus and in the Fort Wayne area. EIA participates in community outreach by volunteering at local schools, participating in Jesters and being involved with Junior Achievement and Big Brothers-Big Sisters of Allen County. Meetings have covered such topics as first-year teachers, legal issues and teachers’ rights.

Film Club

The Film Club provides an opportunity for students to gather in a controlled setting to study particular landmark films. Background on the importance of the film is provided and discussion is held afterwards. Some students will present commentary on films they are interested in.

The USF student newspaper gives students the opportunity to write about and photograph campus and club events. Usually an eight-page production, the Paw Print gives students a chance to work in all areas of newspaper production including writing, photography, editing, layout and pre-press production. The Paw Print is available in all university buildings on the publication dates.

Residence Hall Association (RHA)

RHA is the major programming and legislative organization for the residence halls. RHA provides a representative voice for students living in the residence halls at USF. Executive Board consists of a president, vice president, secretary and treasurer. The board will have representation from each Residence Hall Council. Members must be residential students who have a sincere desire to improve and contribute to residential life on campus.

Special Interest Graphics and Animation Club (SIGGRAPH)

The USF SIGGRAPH chapter is dedicated to the generation and dissemination of information on computer graphics and interactive techniques. ACM SIGGRAPH is an international organization. The group holds regular meetings, works on chapter projects and presents student film showings for the university and the community. Each year the chapter sends representatives to the national conference.

Student Art League

Student Art League is especially beneficial for USF art students with a concentration in Fine and Fine/Commercial Art. However, all USF art students are welcome to participate. The goals of the Student Art League are to further educate students outside the classroom by providing opportunities to visit artists and galleries, inviting guest speakers, helping students develop their portfolios and exhibition records to prepare for graduate school, and giving additional opportunities for critiques. The club also provides a social environment for art students that allows them to share experiences to help organize and unify as a group.

The University Singers can be taken as a credit course that can be taken for audit or no credit. The Singers perform a wide range of choral literature for university activities and special concerts. They also perform a fall and spring concert.
